Indie Discovery – Chaos Reborn
I think I should rename this segment “Harry’s Strategy Game Love-In” because recently a lot of Indie Game’s I’ve been covering in these Discovery articles have been some form of Strategy or Simulation game. That will change with the next article, but for now let’s look at Chaos Reborn.
Chaos Reborn is a spiritual successor to the venerable 1985 ZX Spectrum game Chaos: The Battle of Wizards by Julian Gollop. Who is Julian Gollop, and why should I care, I here you ask. Well, Mr Gollop the brains behind the original XCOM series of games, and is a hugely respected strategy game designer. After leaving Ubisoft for personal reasons, he decided to start work on bringing Chaos into the modern age.
And dear lord, for a game so early in development it looks phenomenal. The aesthetic is astoundingly unique and I really hope it stays consistent throughout the game’s development.
The game focuses around two factions Chaos and Law, bringing each faction together in turn-based battle across some psychedelic hexagonal arenas. It seems like it will focus on casting spells and summoning creatures to do your turn-based bidding.
Julian Gollop is going to be launching a Kickstarter campaign for this game on March 14th and I expect it to do very well. Take a look at the list of intended game features below, and then visit www.chaos-reborn.com to get some more information, join the forums and generally start getting hyped!
